For a safe and enjoyable festival experience
The Keep Festive network was established to help create a safe space at festivals and events, as defined in Keep Festive's founding act. Members work closely together to develop the community and implement the principles of Keep Festive. This means that Keep Festive provides a friendly, supportive and harassment-free environment for all people, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, appearance, ethnicity, religion, belief or other identity.
Our guidelines:
We expect all individuals participating in the festival to respect those guidelines and not assume another person's consent: no means no in any interaction. Every individual has the right to self-determination.
No generalizations or assumptions should be made about anyone's background, experiences, gender or sexuality. Every person participating in the festival should understand, as a whole and without exceptions, that we come from different backgrounds and have different experiences with all that this implies. We are likely to disagree on various things. However, in every interaction, each person should show respect and take responsibility for their words, actions and misbehaviour. Sometimes, an apology is necessary.
What behaviours are we talking about?
Keep Festive considers the following forms of behaviour to be inappropriate and undesirable at its members' festivals and events:
Threatening, discriminatory, disrespectful or harassing behavior. This may include, but is not limited to: physical or verbal abuse, abuse or misconduct, sexual assault or unwanted sexual advances or approaches; stalking and/or intimidation.
What are the steps to manage such incidents?
The Festival displays the necessary information material for the individuals concerned to find details to report an incident. Concerned individuals are directed to Festival reference persons, to whom they can report the incident in complete confidentiality and respect for their experience.
