Christos Karakepelis

He was born in 1962. He studied political science and filmmaking. He has directed TV documentary series on social, political and historical themes and two feature-length documentaries: “The House of Cain,” which explores the existence of seven everyday people who have committed murder; and “Raw Material”, a film that sinks into the most miserable neighborhoods of Athens in order to discover the invisible link between immigrant slums and the Greek steel industry. Both films have won awards and distinctions in Greece and abroad. He has taught documentary classes at the University of Athens, at the Hellenic Cinema and Television School Stavrakos and at public Institutes of Vocational Training (IEK), while for the last 6 years he has been running his own, annual documentary workshop that has already formed a core of young creators and has produced four feature-length documentaries which have been screened in movie theaters and international documentary festivals.
