When the screen becomes …a family affair

Michalis Meimaris, Professor Emeritus, University of Athens

1st part (1 hour and 30 minutes): In the context of a story circle, there is a discussion, and creation and writing of a script by the participants-families. 2nd part (1 hour and 30 minutes): A selection of personal multimodal material (photos, videos, music, etc.), the creation of storyboards and production of the initial version of Digital Narrative in the context of group dynamics. 3rd part (1 hour and 30 minutes): the creation and presentation of the final Digital Narrative within the group, and, last but not least, a commentary and evaluation of the whole action by the participants.

Aim: A “good enough” relationship with the screen, together with acquiring soft skills, life skills, as well as technological and digital knowledge.

The participants are families, parents with their children. The story they will tell using digital means will be about their daily family life, and they will have to choose the subject. In this way, within the family context dynamics, a new approach to image and screen literacy is achieved together with the acquisition of soft skills, life skills, as well as technological and digital ones.
