3rd OLYMPIA “CREATIVE IDEAS” PITCHING LAB PRESENTATION

“Creative Ideas” is a project which aims to support and boost the production of films for children and young people in Greece, which is much lower than in the rest of Europe.

The Lab’s goal is both to familiarize creative talents from Greece with the children and youth film industry and to present quality projects to international producers, festival organizers and distributors.

The Lab seeks to help talents clarify their ideas, provide them with a foundation for their presentation, and ultimately give them a platform to present their ideas to an audience consisting of film professionals from Greece and abroad.

The Lab’s participants watch films and participate in pitching courses led by specialized educators, while renowned international professionals are offering them their experience through lectures and discussions. This year, our visiting lecturers are the distinguished producer-distributor Xiaojuan Zhou (Canada) and the renowned producer-screenwriter Tamara Bos (the Netherlands).

The submissions that get to participate in the Pitching Lab compete for two equally valued awards established by the Greek Film Centre and Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, both prized at 3,000 Euros. The two awarded submissions are further supported by the provision of technical and other services at the stage of film production, courtesy of the companies Authorwave, SteFilm and Neaniko Plano, the historical organiser of Olympia Festival.

In the first two years of Olympia “Creative Ideas” Pitching Lab we selected 23 projects to participate. Five of them are either completed or are about to complete, although delayed by the coronavirus crisis.

The two previous editions were imaginative and innovative experiences, not lacking social awareness and sensitivity. The first sentiments of youth, the phenomenon of immigration, as well as youth creativity and the many ways in which the world of grown-ups affects children were some of the main themes that the young creators dove into.

This year’s 3rd edition of Olympia “Creative Ideas” Pitching Lab is reinventing itself in an online form, but the spirit remains the same. We would like to present to you the pitch of the twelve ideas for fiction and animation films, competing for the two awards with confidence that many of them will become beautiful films, very much suitable for children and youth audience around Europe and the world. We believe that Greek creative talents can offer much to our industry, as they mature into it. Olympia Festival will be around to help them.

The final pitching will be held on December 6, 17:00 CET.
