2nd International Meeting on Film Education

The Meeting will take place over the weekend of November 30 - December 1, 2024. It is aimed at educators who are interested in and active in cinema and audiovisual media, as well as filmmakers who are interested in education.

What is Olympia Festival?

The Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People, based in Ilia, was established in 1997 and has since served as a platform for promoting cinema aimed at children and adolescents, as well as fostering creativity among young people. It provides a dynamic space for expression and the acquisition of knowledge. Each year, the festival hosts films from around the world, capturing the concerns, dreams, and challenges of children and teenagers. From short animations to fiction films and documentaries, the program embraces diverse cinematic genres, focusing on high-quality productions. Alongside these screenings, the European Meeting of Young People’s Audiovisual Creation, Camera Zizanio, offers a venue for young people who have already created their own films to meet and share their work. Additionally, the festival provides children, particularly those in the region of Western Greece, the opportunity to participate in film workshops, create their own movies, and develop a hands-on relationship with the art of cinema that goes beyond their typical interaction with audiovisual media. The Olympia Film Festival is not just an event—it is a living entity that highlights the power of cinema as an educational tool and a catalyst for social change. It nurtures future generations of creators, cinephiles, and thoughtful citizens.
