    A quarter of the global population of school age live in war zones or disaster areas. Fewer than one in four under age refugees attends secondary school. Only one in twenty enrolls for university. Less than two per cent of global humanitarian aid is spent on education. “Awlad” is the story of four refugee children in four different countries and describes their daily struggle to obtain formal education.

    A Spanish and an Italian journalist who work in crisis areas. They have been both following the refugees’ drama in Africa, the Middle East and Europe, focusing on women rights and children's education. "Awlad" is their first feature film documentary.
