Ten-year-old Lucía lives with her family in a small tourist-trade town in Lake Titicaca on the Island of the Sun, Bolivia. One morning, when Lucía wakes up, she does not see her father and runs to the bay where she sees him going away into the lake, on his way to the capital, La Paz. From that day forward faces a range of new, conflicting emotions. In that mythical place, while she waits for her dad to return, she builds her daily life around the expectations of her life after their reunion.
