2021…Covid19, lockdown… Suddenly life sinks to a horrifying and unprecedented stillness and idleness… A small high school in the Greek countryside tries to stay alive clinging on the lifejacket of digital education. The camera records with humor and realism how relationships were formed in and out of screens. Some dedicated teachers keep the school ‘’open’’ in their own way and face all the emotions, difficulties, and dead ends. A fight against isolation, loneliness, boredom, resignation… Will they win the bet?
Maria Leonida
Her documentary work has been screened in Film Festivals and TV channels around Europe. Maria was selected for the IDFA New talents section in 1996, and awarded in Greek Festivals and the State quality Awards. Coproductions with the Greek Film Centre, ERT SA, ZDF, EBU and NGOs. Director and co-founder of Karpos, an expert on Media Literacy. (www.karposonthewb.org) where she designs and coordinates film and media education projects for 10 EU programmes. Maria trained in filmmaking in London and Denmark. She holds a BA in History and an MA in Art History.
