Sam, a fearless young girl raised away from her Māori culture, is determined to fulfil her mission of connecting with her mountain in the hope that it can heal her from the cancer she battles. Along the way, she meets some misfits and new kids in town – Mallory, hoping to find any kind of friends, and Bronco, who claims to be a runaway from his dad, who is too busy to notice him. As they make their way through the difficult off-the-beaten-track journey, they learn the true spirit of adventure and the magic of friendship.

Rachel House

Born in 1971, she is a New Zealand actress and director of Māori descent. She has received numerous accolades, including an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her contributions to the performing arts. House is known for her frequent collaborations with director Taika Waititi, having appeared in films like Boy (2010), Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016), and Thor: Ragnarok (2017). She also voiced Gramma Tala in Disney’s Moana (2016) and Terry in Pixar’s Soul (2020). In addition to her acting career, House is an accomplished director, having helmed theatre productions and short films. She is celebrated for her contributions to Māori culture and cinema
