An inclusive society should provide equal opportunities for children and young people in culture and education. Children and young people are usually the first victims of intra-regional disparities. These inequalities, but also poverty and social exclusion in general, deprive children of basic rights enshrined in the European Convention on the Exercise of the Rights of the Child, the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, etc.
In order to mitigate these inequalities and raise public and institutional awareness about their existence, this year we are organizing a tribute with various activities that will be implemented in all three sections of the Region of Western Greece, co-financed by the European Union (NSRF 2021-2027 of the Region of Western Greece).
The tribute includes:
- Experiential Workshop "Moving body that sounds and connects": Inclusive body music workshop and parallel creation of a universally accessible videodance for a group of up to 15 teenagers [or adolescents with parents] with or without visual or hearing disabilities. Yiota Peklari [choreographer] and Chrysanthi Badeka [cinematographer] lead a complete sensory, experiential and therapeutic experience, enabling listeners, non-hearing, sighted, non-sighted, adolescents with or without forms of hearing or visual impairment, to meet on the occasion of an artistic action. The workshop will take place in Patras.
- "All together in cinema": Special inclusive events, in collaboration with actors of the disability movement in the regional units of the Region of Western Greece, based on screenings of universally accessible films.
- Cinematic PsychoEDU: Psychoeducational interventions using cinema as a tool. A workshop led by our associate psychologist and educator Adamantia Zafeiropoulou.
- Free film screenings for schools in the regional units of Achaia, Etoloakarnania and Ilia.
